Inspeccia vs PageSpeed Insights: speed is not visibility

It's a more common confusion than it looks. Someone runs their site through PageSpeed Insights, scores a 95, and concludes it's "optimized". Then they're surprised ChatGPT doesn't mention them when asked about their category. The two don't contradict each other: they simply measure different axes. Speed is not visibility.

It's worth clarifying the difference, because confusing them leads you to believe a problem is solved when it was never even measured.

What PageSpeed Insights does

PageSpeed Insights is a free Google tool that evaluates a page's load experience. Per Google's documentation, it combines lab data (via Lighthouse) with real field data from users (the Chrome UX Report) to report Core Web Vitals and optimization opportunities. It tells you how long content takes to paint, how stable the layout is on load, and what you can improve to make it faster.

It's an excellent tool for what it does. If your problem is performance, it's one of the first to open.

What Inspeccia does

Inspeccia doesn't look at speed. It looks at whether you exist in the conversation. It asks ChatGPT real questions from your industry and shows you the answer as a customer would see it: whether it names you, how it describes you, which competitors it places you against. It's a question of presence and reputation, not milliseconds.

A site can load in a blink and still be invisible to AI, because speed doesn't tell the model you're the best answer to a question. They're two diagnoses that don't substitute for each other.

A 100 on PageSpeed is good news for your users and for Google. It tells you nothing about whether ChatGPT recommends you. Two questions, and both worth answering.

When to use which

Use PageSpeed Insights when the symptom is speed: the page is slow, the layout jumps on load, users leave too early. To diagnose and prioritize performance improvements, it's free and direct.

Use Inspeccia when the symptom is absence: you don't appear in AI answers about your sector, or you don't know how ChatGPT describes you versus the competition. PageSpeed doesn't see that, because it isn't its job.

Ideally you use both in their moment. A fast page nobody finds is as much of a problem as a visible page that loads badly. They're two legs of the same table.

Frequently asked questions

Do PageSpeed Insights and Inspeccia measure the same thing?

No, they measure different things. PageSpeed Insights, a free Google tool, evaluates a page's performance and load experience: Core Web Vitals, timings, optimization opportunities. Inspeccia evaluates your visibility in AI answers: whether ChatGPT mentions you in your category and how it describes you. Speed and visibility are different axes.

Does a high PageSpeed score help AI cite me?

It helps indirectly, but doesn't guarantee it. A fast, well-built page is easier to crawl, which is good for any crawler. But performance doesn't determine whether the model considers you the best answer to a question. You can score 100 on PageSpeed and still not appear in any ChatGPT answer about your category.

So speed doesn't matter?

Of course it matters: for users, for classic SEO and for experience. It just solves a different problem. PageSpeed Insights is the right tool to diagnose and improve performance. Inspeccia is the right one to know whether you exist in AI's mental map. Use each for its job.

Is PageSpeed Insights free?

Yes, it's a free Google tool anyone can use without an account. Inspeccia works per analysis and also has a free option to see your initial AI-visibility picture. They're complementary and neither excludes the other.

Speed is covered. What about AI visibility?

In every analysis we ask ChatGPT three real questions about your industry and report how it describes you and which competitors it places you against. It's the axis no performance tool measures.
